Schools are always looking for ways to enhance the quality of education by integrating technology and transforming each student’s journey.  iPads are a versatile educational tool that engages students and fosters a dynamic learning environment.

This case study focuses on the experience of implementing Mosyle and Apple School Manager as methods of iPad Management for one of our educational customers. We will highlight the challenges faced, solutions adopted, and the outcomes achieved. 

Coordinating the configuration, security, and updates for hundreds of iPads across all grade levels proved a logistical challenge for our customer.  Ensuring that the right apps and materials were consistently available to all students and educators was time-consuming, and no efficient distribution mechanism was utilized. 

Additionally, our customer needed to ensure that student data and their devices were protected and free from unauthorized access.   

Implementing a combination of Mosyle and Apple School Manager, as their robust Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution, allowed us to streamline device management to be more effective and efficient in their iPad management.   

Our team worked with the school to pre-configure the iPads according to their requirements and ensure they were enrolled in the MDM system.  We then created user and role-based access for the students, educators, and administrators to enforce the appropriate content access and restrictions per user group. 

We reviewed the apps required by each grade and teacher to create the deployment procedures needed to distribute the apps by grade level and subject area.  

Lastly, we implemented enhanced security measures that allowed remote wipe capabilities and app whitelisting, all while protecting the data of the students, educators, and administrators.  

As a result of implementing iPad management for our educational customer, we were able to provide value to the school and the students by: 

• Enhancing students’ learning experience and participation through interactive apps and multimedia resources that enriched their learning process.   
• Reduce downtime and operational costs by streamlining the administration through remote configuration, updates, and troubleshooting processes.  
• Enabling educators with data insight that provided them the ability to tailor their instruction based on the needs of their students. 

The successful implementation of iPad management in the school demonstrates the potential of technology to enhance education.  The school overcame initial challenges by embracing MDM systems, VPP, and robust security measures and reaped the benefits of a connected and dynamic learning environment.
